Saint Sena Navi

Sant Senaji Maharaj was a prominent devotee of Lord Vitthal in the Varkari tradition. He was contemporary to Sant Namdev and Sant Dnyaneshwar, , and had immense faith in Lord Panduranga. He was born near Allahabad at Bandhavgarh. Despite being engaged in business activities and working as a barber for local kings, his mind was always immersed in contemplation of Lord Vitthal. He was multilingual, proficient in Marathi and Hindi, and his abhangas (devotional songs) are widely recognized in Marathi and Hindi spoken areas. His writings are included in the sacred text "Guru Granth Sahib" of the Sikh religion. Contemporary saints like Sant Janabai had mentioned him in her Abhangas. In the later years of his life, he returned to his homeland but remained engrossed in thoughts of Panduranga of Pandharpur. One day, on the Ekadashi, he spent the entire day in remembrance of Lord Panduranga at his home. On the next day, the Dwadashi of the month of Shravan, he attained samadhi (a deep meditative state) and merged eternally with the divine. This day is commemorated as the "Punya Tithi Divas" of Sena Maharaj and is still revered with great respect. His memorial site exists at Bandhavgarh, and even today, he is remembered with reverence. Additionally, at the sacred place of Pandharpur, along the circumambulation path near the temple of Lord Mahadeva, there is a Samadhi Mandir dedicated to Sant Sena Maharaj
